I AM NOT AN OPEN BOOK workshop applications

We are looking for a few non-binary/trans performers to workshop a new show.  The workshop will take place in august with dates to agreed upon later.  we are looking for theatre makers with a strong voice and experience with physical and spoken theatre.

SYNPOSIS:

Find your own identity in the pages of a fairytale, but the books have all been wrapped in plastic. “I Am Not An Open Book” is a theatrical kaleidoscope that tears up the rule book of gender and scatters its contents across a mythical kingdom where a knight searches for his princess, peppering into the digital binary code of a GameBoy cartridge and ending up in a pile of degenerate literature in 1933, Germany.

This workshop is unpaid but Lunch and snacks will be provided on the day. Each participant will be given a free ticket to the show as a thank you and be credited as a collaborator of the show.

We will pick the work shoppers end of july and you will be notified via email.

Fruitcake Productions acknowledges the traditional Owners of the land on which we create, work and live; the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation and pay our respects to Elders of this land. We recognise the past atrocities against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this land and the lost of language, communities and story due to genocide and dispossession.  Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.

We also acknowledge the role of English institutions past and present in global colonisation and oppression. As a company we aim to engage with and resist continued colonial structures within the theatre space and beyond. We thrive to make Fruitcake Productions a Safe, Inclusive and Diverse for Theatre Makers Everywhere.
